The purpose of this project was to experiment with a music video. One of the deliverables on this assignment was to "get weird with it", so I got weird with it. I chose Human Fly because it set the perfect mood for strangeness and the ideas were plentiful.
The beginning was inspired by a scene in Kenny Vs. Spenny, a show I would watch every weekend growing up. To create the desired effect I wanted this prop to have, I experimented with mixing cocoa powder with many different things. I found that using only margarine and cocoa powder gave the right consistency and still held together at room temperature. The taste was fine, but I think the environment in which I consumed it influenced my thoughts a bit.
The song uses reverb and distortion to create a rough and unpleasant feel that captures the disgusting nature of a fly. The creative choices I made in this music video reflect the disgusting nature of a fly because I did something disgusting and put it out into the world for a lot of people to see, also there's raw meat and garbage in a bin.
